This is a faithful reproduction of the original 1909 'classic tarot' deck of 78 cards but the colors are more vibrant and some of the images are a little sharper.
Can I recommend it over the Original Rider Waite Tarot deck? For me it's a big YES but it does cost a few dollars more.
I also like the inclusion of 'Pixie' Smith's name in the title as it gives her a bit more recognition for the role she played in bringing Tarot more into the mainstream and creating the most widely used Tarot deck around.
A brief history
Although the use of Tarot cards can be traced all the way back to 1379, their use and interpretation was shrouded in mystery until in 1909 a 'new' deck was produced by Arthur E Waite a renowned scholar of occultism and his publisher William Ryder.
Thanks to Pamela 'Pixie' Coleman Smith's artistic talents, the 'new' deck included deep artistic and symbolic representations of all 78 cards for the first time, making the cards far more accessible, easy to read and interpret.
Although there are now many other beautiful and artistic Tarot decks, this deck is a true classic and a great starting point for your Tarot journey.

4x 2 1/3" (10.3cm x 6cm) - please note these are about the same size as normal playing cards, which means they take up less room in your bag and might even fit in your purse!
